New
Zealand is a country of raw beauty and amazing contrasts. In land
mass it is about the size of Great Britain but has a population
of only 4 million people. New Zealand is made up of two main islands,
called the North and South Islands, the scenery is magnificent.
In the South Island glacial mountains give birth to rivers whose
waters feed into lakes. Temperate rainforests plunge onto deep fiords
in the southwest coast. The bulk of population lives in the North
Island. Cities such as Auckland and Wellington, the capital of New
Zealand, boast a sophistication and style equal to any western metropolitan
centre. Fun, fashion and entertainment abound these pulsating environments.

In
the far north, sandy beaches and sun drenched coves are enjoyed
by surfers while the offshore waters abound with gamefish. You can
swim with dolphins, whalewatch, or fish in mountain streams. Diving
and fishing are as much a part of the North Island way of life as
skiing and snow boarding are to the South. And yet the country is
so accessible and compact that it has been known for the keen sport-
visitor to ski, sail, fish and go deer hunting all the same day.

Extreme?
Maybe, but then New Zealand is a land of extremes. That is what makes
it such a vibrant and exciting place to visit |
